The long-term vision, mission and strategy for the coming years VIDS have come about through a number of workshops, meetings, and projects where certain issues are discussed and planned against. Issues such as: the legal recognition of the rights of indigenous people in Suriname, the strengthening of the traditional authority of indigenous people, and improving the social and socio-economic position of indigenous people. VIDS Office also strives to work on the representation of village councils, as well as the identity and cultural strengthening of indigenous people.
